120K Service

Mileage: 119,084KM

Another service is due today. A 120k KM interval service which includes ATF oil change.

For this time around, I will be changing the engine oil brand from Total to AMSOIL. The reason being is I have been spoiled by the performance of Total Quartz 9000 5W50 from the previous service. Unfortunately, the oil rating is too great for my little engine hence I need to find alternative which must be a 100% synthetics oil from PAO base stock.

Other than that, I’m looking for an engine oil rating which is almost like the original recommended rating, 10W40. As the result, AMSOIL 10W40; the characteristics of this oil is between Total Quartz 9000 5W40 and 5W50. Almost equivalent to Total Quartz 7000 10W40 but with PAO base stock and no friction modifier.

 

 
120k KM service cost:

• AMSOIL 10W40 – RM220
• Esso AL4 ATF – RM176
• Oil Filter – RM24
• Labour Charge – RM50

Fortunately, I spread most of wear and tear parts across the service schedule to prevent a big dent in my wallet when its due. Things that were excluded from this service interval

• Fuel Filter – replaced on last service
• Air Filter – changed to K&N drop-in filter
• Spark Plugs – changed to Volker Iridium plugs
